Demonstrate China’s Local Actions on Climate Change at COP24


On December 8, a side event of “China’s Local Actions on Climate Change” was held at the China Pavilion of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland, demonstrating the efforts and achievements made by China in combating climate change. The event was jointly hosted by the Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China (MEE), the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation under MEE, Energy Foundation China, and the Institute for Sustainable Communities. At the event, more than 80 representatives from local Chinese governments, research institutes, and NGOs both in China and other parts of the world shared their climate mitigation and adaption actions and international cooperation projects in areas such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan cluster, Tibetan Plateau, Hunan province, as well as cities of Shenzhen, Wuhan, Zhenjiang, Qingdao, and Lishui. The representatives also discussed the progress China’s climate adaptive pilot cities and low carbon pilot cities and provinces had made, as well the challenges were facing them.
